You chose to turn your head back to the baby bird to make sure it is okay

Feeling bad about your terrible decision, you turn back for just a moment to make sure that the baby bird and nature are getting along just fine.

They are not.

The water, just tiny drops to you but a massive waterfall to the baby bird, is smacking the baby bird with full force. You can see the tiny creature trying to dodge the water with what little energy it has left. The poor creature is mostly failing at this task. It steps side-to-side trying its best, but it cannot keep up.

You run up to the baby bird to help.

As soon as you gently pick up the baby bird with your mouth, you see a wet, angry looking coyote. It wants what you have. Your new friend is its dinner.
