Once again you have decided that nature has its own way of dealing with things. From keeping tiny birds warm to making sure a nice coyote gets fed in a timely and efficient manner, nature has pretty much everything figured out without your intervention. Defying nature is a futile and difficult gesture that will only lead to heartache and frustration.
You drop the baby bird out of your mouth. It plops onto the ground and you turn back to your cave, again.
As you walk away you can hear a tiny, weak “Kweh!” shoot into the air. It is quickly silenced.

You get to your cave.
It is warm in there.
