You lunge toward the snake and bite down on its scaly skin. It lets go of the baby bird and turns its attention to you. It is incredibly outmatched, a fact it does not realize until you have picked up the creature with your paws and squeezed. You then use your claws to force its mouth open. You can see down the tunnel of a mouth it has as you pull its jaws apart, unhinging them beyond the comfort of even a snake. You rip the bottom of its face from the top of its face. It is quite messy.
You check on the baby bird.
It has holes in its belly and back. It is bleeding profusely. Its eyes are closed. It is not moving. Or breathing.
You drop the snake’s limp body onto the ground.
